An Education in Leadership

A Day in the Life of a Cadet

A Military Science 1 (MS1) is a 1st-year cadet, typically a freshman. Freshmen take the MSC 122 and MSC 121 classes with their corequisite labs for a combined 6 credit hours over two semesters, four in your first semester and two in your second.

Lab will be just under two hours from 2:15-4:05 pm on Thursdays and require you to wear your issued uniform from the start of the day until the end of lab.

Physical Readiness Training (PRT) is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6-7:30 a.m. and consists of an hour and a half of physical training to prepare Cadets for the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT.)

There is one field training exercise (FTX) per semester that usually consists of a weekend down at Ft. Knox, KY.

Additional extracurriculars include the Ranger Challenge, necessitating one extra PT and class per week at 6 am Tuesday and Thursday, and Pershing Rifles, a military fraternity with a pledging period on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
