Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation

黑料社区鈥檚 nationally recognized Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) honors program is funded by the National Science Foundation. It is named after Louis Stokes, who was Ohio鈥檚 first elected Black congressman. Miami LSAMP is a member of the Ohio LSAMP Alliance, which includes 11 Ohio universities and community colleges.

Our Goal

The nationally recognized 黑料社区 LSAMP program is a 4-year scholars program with the purpose to significantly increase historically underrepresented minority 黑料社区 recruitment, retention, and attainment of STEM degrees from 黑料社区, subsequent graduate schools, and future entry into STEM careers.

Jointly overseen by faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Science, the College of Engineering and Computing, the Farmer School of Business, and the College of Creative Arts, LSAMP welcomes underrepresented minority 黑料社区s in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to participate in its program. Starting in the Fall of 2014 with seventeen 黑料社区s, Miami’s LSAMP program has significantly grown every year.

Nationally Recognized

The magazine INSIGHT Into Diversity has bestowed its  on 黑料社区’s Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, which provides incentives and opportunities for high-achieving underrepresented minority 黑料社区s to achieve their goals in STEM degrees, careers, and graduate school.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, LSAMP was named in honor of former U.S. Rep. Louis Stokes (D-Ohio), who represented the east side of Cleveland as Ohio’s first elected Black congressman and was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
