Five distinguished media and communication professionals will be on ºÚÁÏÉçÇø’s Oxford campus for networking and career advice during MJF Alumni Days, April 7 and 8.

The Department of Media, Journalism & Film is hosting a Career Panel and Networking Event beginning at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, in Williams Studio 107C. All ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs and faculty are welcome.

Alumni members will share their experiences working in the fields of strategic communications, journalism, film, television, and radio.

2025 Distinguished Alumni

Marni Goldberg (Journalism 2007) is director of corporate communications at Apple, where she has worked since 2020. A seasoned public affairs professional, she has extensive experience positioning U.S. Senators, U.S. Cabinet Secretaries and CEOs as thought leaders and providing counsel on internal and external communications, messaging, and media. Prior to joining Apple, she held the positions of senior director of public affairs at VISA, director of public affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and press secretary for U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Blanche Lincoln. She also served as communications director for U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore. Goldberg was named one of Miami’s 18 of the Last 9 in 2016.


 

James Kramp (Mass Communication 1990) is the senior director at SNY (home of the New York Mets). He is a two-time Emmy-winning director with more than 30 years of experience, based in New York City. An Ohio native, Kramp was very active in ºÚÁÏÉçÇø Television. He started his career as a director of local newscasts in Montgomery, Alabama. He worked in three states before his wife’s career took them to London in 2013. There Jim led the Directors at Sky Sports News in their transition to automation. Returning to the U.S. in 2017, he worked with WNBC and NBC Nightly News. In 2020, he began his current role as senior show director for SNY, the home of the New York Mets. He and his wife Tracy love to travel and have been to nearly 60 countries.


 

Richie Owens (Mass Communication 1995) is a television producer best known for his extensive work on the CBS series NCIS since the show's inception in 2003. In addition to his work on NCIS, Owens has been involved in other television projects. He also worked on the TV series Providence and Roswell. Beyond television, Owens has demonstrated his creative talents in filmmaking. He wrote, directed, and edited the short film Eddy, which premiered at the IFS Los Angeles Film Festival. The film also screened at the Key West Film Festival and the Camerimage International Film Festival.


 

Oriana Pawlyk (Journalism 2012) is the aviation reporter at Politico covering everything from airlines, commercial aircraft and regulation, to drones and even the unexplored realm of commercial space. She was previously Military.com’s air warfare reporter covering personnel, investigations, defense technology, to Air Force operations all over the world; and was also an active member of the Pentagon Press Association. She received the in 2019, and the Best Young Defense Journalist Award sponsored by Bradfield & Associates . 

She previously covered air campaign operations in the Middle East and Europe, among other topics for Air Force Times; and edited the Military Times Early Bird Brief newsletter in 2015, compiling the top national security stories driving the day.


 

Ambassador Shefali Razdan Duggal (Mass Communication 1993) is a retired US Ambassador to The Netherlands. She was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on September 20, 2022, and presented her credentials to King Willem-Alexander on October 19, 2022. She is the first person of color to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Prior to serving as Ambassador, Razdan Duggal was a San Francisco Committee member of Human Rights Watch, served on the Leadership and Character Council at Wake Forest University and was on the National Advisory Board of Inside Washington at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. Razdan Duggal served on the National Finance Committee of Joe Biden for President 2020 and was a National Co-Chair of Women for Biden. She has also served as a Deputy National Finance Chair at the Democratic National Committee. She earned an honorary doctorate from ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. Razdan Duggal is the first Ambassador to the Netherlands, from any country worldwide, to have a tulip named after her. On International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024, the Dutch named a fuchsia pink tulip the “Tulipa Shefali.” Razdan Duggal was also nominated for the 2024 State Department Sue M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service for her work representing the United States in the Netherlands (first U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands to receive this nomination).
