Why Miami?

I ultimately chose Miami because of the gorgeous campus and the size. I went to a very small high school, so I knew if I went to a large college it would be quite the adjustment. I also think Miami has the prettiest campus out of all of the schools I was considering. I don't really like cities, so Miami was the perfect choice.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major at the end of my senior year, but I was unsure what I wanted to do as a career. When I first started at Miami my major was just Mathematics. This was my chosen major in high school because I knew I loved math. However, when I got to college I started to think about career options and discovered Actuarial Science my first year. I took statistics for the first time and loved it, so I decided to change my major to Mathematics and Statistics. I also added my minor after my first semester here.

Key Moment at Miami

One of my key academic experiences at Miami was when I took MTH 151. This was my first ever college level math course, so I was very nervous about it. I had an amazing professor, Ms. Anderson. She made me feel confident that I had chosen the right major and career path. I'm so thankful that I was able to have her as a professor.

Favorite Miami Memory

The Actuarial Science Club has influenced me in a positive way because it's allowed me to learn more about becoming an actuary, prepare for actuary exams, and get in contact with different companies for internships and even future careers.

What are your career goals?

After I graduate from Miami, I plan to start a career as an Actuary in insurance.
