When ºÚÁÏÉçÇø ºÚÁÏÉçÇø Andy Robbins (‘28) first conceptualized Sparkli, a relationship-focused app, it wasn’t just an idea; it was a personal mission. Today, Robbins is inviting fellow ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs to join Sparkli’s design and sales team, helping couples rekindle their spark through creativity, technology, and innovation.
“Sparkli has given me a purpose to wake up every morning and work on something that I know will help people,” said Robbins, the founder of Sparkli. “It’s more than just an app—it’s a mission to make relationships stronger and more meaningful.”
About Sparkli: Revitalizing Relationships
Sparkli is designed to combat stagnation in relationships by encouraging spontaneity and fostering meaningful connections. The app offers a suite of features to make date planning and thoughtful gestures effortless:
- Map Integration: Find local date spots tailored to your preferences with reviews and suggestions.
- Personalized Date Ideas: Discover curated experiences based on interests, budget, and time availability.
- Saved Ideas and Notes: Organize partner preferences and special memories in one convenient place.
- Couples’ Shop: Browse unique gifts and matching apparel designed for couples.
With its user-friendly interface and creative branding, Sparkli has positioned itself as more than a tool—it’s a lifestyle companion for modern couples.
From Idea to Impact
Robbins’ journey with Sparkli began in high school, fueled by personal experiences and a desire to address a common relationship challenge: monotony. At 17, he surveyed over 1,000 individuals and discovered a pressing need for tools to maintain relationship excitement. The survey inspired him to build a prototype, which reached the finals of the X-Squared Pitch Competition.
Despite early challenges, including technical setbacks, Robbins remained undeterred. Over the past year, he dedicated thousands of hours to reimagining Sparkli, creating a database of over 750 unique date ideas and collaborating with peers to refine the app’s design and functionality.
Sparkli, currently lives on the Apple App Store as "Sparklii," is set to relaunch on January 1st with updated branding and a sleek user interface.
A Call for Collaboration
As Sparkli prepares for its official launch, Robbins is inviting ºÚÁÏÉçÇø ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs to join the team and make an impact.
Opportunities include:
- Tech Development: Enhance features and explore innovative integrations.
- Marketing: Expand Sparkli’s reach through strategic campaigns.
- Design: Contribute to UI/UX projects and creative product designs.
Students will gain real-world experience in a dynamic startup environment while contributing to a project that improves lives.
"Putting thousands of hours and dollars into something is all worth it when I get a text from a user saying, ‘This app saved my relationship,’” said Robbins.
Creative Roles for Students
The Sparkli team envisions ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs contributing to several key areas:
- Visual Content for Dates: Create artistic representations of unique date ideas.
- Mood-Specific Music: Curate soundscapes that enhance in-app experiences.
- Brand Development: Design apparel or accessories aligned with Sparkli’s theme.
- Innovative Date Ideas: Brainstorm new, unconventional date experiences.
- Empathy Research: Study relational dynamics to inform app features.
Each role offers ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs a chance to showcase creativity, conduct meaningful research, and make a tangible impact on the app’s evolution.
A Movement to Strengthen Connections
Robbins and his team have turned a high school dream into a mission-driven venture. “We’re not a dating app—we’re what you download after,” Robbins emphasized. “Sparkli is a movement to strengthen relationships, one spontaneous idea at a time.”
To learn more about joining the Sparkli team, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs are encouraged to reach out and become part of this exciting project ahead of its January relaunch.
