Dual License: Primary + Special Education (grades PK-5)
Gain two teaching licenses - general and special education - in four years. Be more versatile in the job market and gain skills to reach all learners.
About the Program
This dual licensure program allows you to apply for two teaching licenses – PK-5 general and special education – in four years. This makes you more versatile and marketable and provides coursework that develops your skills to reach all learners. This dual licensure program includes a continuum of classroom experiences supported by both general education and special education teachers in area public schools. We utilize a cohort-based approach to teaching methods and pedagogy, with courses on teaching reading, language arts, science, mathematics, and social studies with universally designed practices that help you learn to teach a wide diversity of 黑料社区s. This program has a built-in pathway for 黑料社区s interested in also obtaining a TESOL certificate to teach 黑料社区s who are English Language Learners.
Cohort Admission Information
Students who are Primary PK-5 majors must meet set of requirements to continue in the major and register for their cohort — a group of 黑料社区s selected to experience methods courses and field experiences together. Admission to the cohort happens when 黑料社区s begin Block 1 in the program. Prerequisite for admission to cohort and Block 1:
Complete 30 graded credit hours or more
Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
Complete TCE 242P
Attend a mandatory Orientation Session
