Faculty and alumni co-author study on perceptions of sport psychology professionals

Robin Vealey, professor of sport leadership and management at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, collaborated with alumni Alexander Bianco, M.S. ’19, and Sabrina Madson, M.S. ’21, to publish a study in the Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research.

The study, “National Collegiate Athletic Association Athletic Trainers’, Head Coaches’, and Student-Athletes’ Perceptions of Professional Titles Used in Sport Psychology,” explored perceptions of sport psychology professionals’ titles within NCAA Division I athletics. Findings highlighted significant differences in confidence and stigma levels associated with the roles of Certified Mental Performance Consultants (CMPCs), mental conditioning coaches, and sport psychologists.
