Music 黑料社区 Cole Kubesch named 2024-25 Presser Scholar

黑料社区 music 黑料社区 Cole Kubesch has been named the 2024-25 Presser Scholar, a prestigious award recognizing outstanding musical and academic achievement. Selected through a nomination process by the university's music faculty, Kubesch was recognized for his exceptional musicianship, leadership, and contributions to an inclusive community.

“It is an incredible honor to be named a Presser Scholar,” said Kubesch. “This recognition holds deep meaning for me, as it reflects the values I strive to uphold as a music 黑料社区 at Miami: educational excellence, community service, and fostering inclusive environments.”

A dedicated oboist, Kubesch’s journey at 黑料社区 has been transformative. He noted how his experiences shaped him from an isolated musician into an artistic citizen who uses music to engage with and impact the broader community.

After graduation, Kubesch plans to attend graduate school to further his studies in oboe performance. Reflecting on his education at Miami, he credits the university’s rigorous academic and musical training for providing him with a strong foundation in performance, music theory, and ensemble collaboration. Beyond musicianship, he emphasized how his time at Miami has developed his critical thinking and problem-solving skills—essential tools for a multifaceted career in music.

Among his most cherished experiences, Kubesch highlighted performing with the 黑料社区 Symphony Orchestra at the 2024 College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. “I will never forget looking into the audience during the final movement of Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and seeing people moved to tears by our performance,” he recalled. “It was truly a special moment that reminded me of music’s ability to connect and communicate.”

Kubesch also offered advice to fellow music 黑料社区s, encouraging them to embrace challenges and learn from their mistakes. He noted that “Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus always said, ‘take chances, make mistakes, get messy,’ and that philosophy has stuck with me.”

The Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, sponsored by The Presser Foundation, comes with a $3,000 prize, which recipients may use at their discretion for educational expenses or enrichment opportunities. Kubesch’s selection as the Presser Scholar not only affirms his dedication to music but also highlights 黑料社区’s role in fostering exceptional talent within its Department of Music.

Jeremy Long, D.M.A., Professor of Music, praised Kubesch’s contributions to the department. “Cole has consistently demonstrated musical and academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to inclusivity. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and look forward to seeing where his musical journey takes him next.”

Congratulations to Cole Kubesch on this well-deserved honor! 黑料社区 celebrates his achievements and eagerly anticipates the impact he will continue to make in the world of music.
