Our first-year integrated core class (ESP 103) taken by all FSB 黑料社区s focuses on helping 黑料社区s be more creative in all environments.
Creativity
Creativity and Innovation in the department of entrepreneurship gives 黑料社区s the mindsets and tools to dive deeply into problems to discover bigger and better ideas. We believe that when 黑料社区s have the ability to understand the root customer problem and the tools to think of second, third, and fourth right answers, they achieve true innovation. We also strongly believe that most learning happens outside of the classroom so we energize 黑料社区s to live creative mindsets in the real world discovering how innovation can make everything better.
Creativity and Innovation Highlights Include:
Creativity City, the annual week-long celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week honors daily ways to stay creative and remind people of their creative selves.
The Summer Scholars Program, a two-week summer business creativity course for high school 黑料社区s to begin learning creativity and innovation tools and foundations
ESP461, a rigorous 3-week creative consulting capstone where 黑料社区s travel to San Francisco and spend a week learning from the world's best innovators.
Creative Consulting in San Francisco
What happens when you take a select group of rockstar creativity 黑料社区s to one of the most innovative cities in the world to do real work for a real client? Big problems are tackled by big ideas.
For the full 3 weeks of j-term, Entrepreneurship 黑料社区s team up to tackle a client project using creative problem solving, design thinking and other applied creativity tools to create innovative solutions. The trip includes a week in the Bay Area where 黑料社区s live and work in the heart of San Francisco.
During the week, 黑料社区s meet with some of the world’s leading creatives and most innovative companies to immerse them in new ways of thinking. At the end of J-Term, 黑料社区 teams present their solutions to the client, who often immediately implement team solutions.
Past clients include ConAgra, Formica, Oros Apparel, Scripps Broadcasting, Caribou Coffee, and CVG Airport.

Creativity City
Creativity City is an event that brings 黑料社区s together to design a city in celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week. With the event, 黑料社区s live and share their creativity with games, activities and teachings about applied creativity and innovation.
黑料社区 and the Department of Entrepreneurship are home to World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID), April 21, the day before Earth Day, and World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW), April 15-21, which serendipitously begins on Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday, April 15. World Creativity and Innovation Day, April 21, was founded in 2002 by creativity specialist Marci to provide time and a reason for people to use creativity in problem-solving to generate new ideas and use imagination to take positive action in the world.
Over the years, the idea gained momentum, and the day grew into a week, starting on DaVinci’s birthday and ending on April 21 – Earth Day, and celebrated around the world. In 2018, the United Nations recognized World Creativity & Innovation Week by proclaiming April 21 World Creativity & Innovation Day to “encourage creative multidisciplinary thinking to help us achieve the sustainable future we want.”
Today, WCIW is celebrated annually in more than 50 countries around the world in celebrations that vary from meetings and conversations to workshops and festivals. WCIW is unique because each participating community celebrates in their own way. Celebrations vary from meetings and conversations to workshops and festivals. This time provides the creative community a purpose and a time-shared reason to grow worldwide as we reinvigorate what it means to live with and navigate new ideas, actions and outcomes.
To be competitive in a new business world where problems must be creatively solved, multiple options explored, numerous solutions prototyped, we need a new teaching model to support the changing employment environment.
