Ronald E. McNair Scholars

During the 黑料社区's program, they will be provided an additional Graduate School-funded Research Assistantship for either one semester for master's 黑料社区s or two semesters for doctoral 黑料社区s. This will result in either three semesters or five semesters of Graduate School-funded support for master's or doctoral 黑料社区s, respectively.

Departments will provide the remaining stipend and tuition waiver for the duration of the 黑料社区's graduate program. When not on the Research Assistantship, the nominating department will assign assistantship duties for the awardee.

Faculty can nominate 黑料社区s applying to a 黑料社区 graduate program who are currently a McNair Scholar or McNair alumni. An applicant awarded a Master's McNair Assistantship who subsequently applies to a doctoral program at 黑料社区 is eligible for a Doctoral McNair Assistantship.

Nomination Process

Nominations are due annually on Feb. 15 (round 1 consideration) or Mar. 15 (round 2 consideration), and they must be submitted by the Graduate Director or Department Chair. Form is available on Graduate Director Resources Canvas page.

Nominations will be accepted after March 15 if awards are available.

Decision Process

The review process will start the week following Feb. 15 and Mar. 15, with decisions being announced within two weeks.

Selection will be based on excellence using a holistic review, considering the applicant's graduate admission application, and the department's recommendation (as provided in their nomination form).
