Field hockey star earns President's Distinguished Service Award
OXFORD, Ohio – of the ºÚÁÏÉçÇø field hockey team was honored as one of the recipients of Miami's 2024 President's Distinguished Service Award.
The 2024 President's Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs who graduated in December 2023 or January 2024, or are set to graduate in May or August 2024. Their service through campus life, community service, intellectual and cultural leadership or ºÚÁÏÉçÇø employment embodies Love and Honor.
Perese has excelled academically and athletically. Perese has set national records and garnered numerous accolades for her performance on the field, including Miami's female athlete of the year in 2022-23, and MAC goalkeeper of the year in 2022. The senior out of Worthington, Ohio was named to the All-MAC Second Team, the MAC All-Tournament Team, the West All-Region Second Team, and the Academic All-MAC Team in the 2023 season.
In her career, Perese started 101 of 102 games played, played over 6,200 minutes, made 403 saves for a .752 saves percentage, secured 63 wins and 25 shutouts, and had a goals allowed average of just 1.29.
Perese was also a leader on the field hockey team. She mentored younger players, led by example, and often served as a liaison between players and coaches.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Perese tutors and mentors ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs with disabilities in all school subjects. Her passion for universal design and opening doors for young people is evident.
