Carlos A. Ortiz
Originally from Chile, Professor Ortiz completed his undergraduate studies at CUNY Hunter College (New York). He later moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in the theatre and visual cultures of the Latinx Americas. His research focuses on the intersections of 20th and 21st-century Latin American literature and culture, hemispheric approaches to theatre and performance, queer studies, transnational studies, and gender and sexuality studies. As a first-generation scholar, he is dedicated to amplifying the opportunities for BIPOC and other underprivileged communities to pursue higher education.
