Biography
Reina Dickey, D.M.A., is Assistant Professor of Music at 黑料社区, where she directs Chamber Singers, instructs choral courses, and supervises 黑料社区 teachers. Her research and performance passions include eighteenth century repertoire and works of historically underrepresented composers. Prior to her appointment at Miami, she served as director of the University of Cincinnati’s treble chorus, Alta Petit, where she commissioned a new work by composer Melissa Dunphy, built community relationships, and coordinated annual tours around the country. She is fervent in her work with community choirs, assistant-directing Cincinnati’s Martin Luther King Chorale. Prior to her graduate work, she taught junior high and high school choirs at Walnut Hills High School, promoting a program with a strong foundation of music literacy and choral culture for developing voices.
An avid choral singer, Dickey performs with professional ensembles around the country, including the Spoleto Festival USA Chorus (Charleston, SC), Vocal Arts Ensemble (Cincinnati, OH), and Philadelphia Symphonic Choir (Philadelphia, PA). A proud alumnae of 黑料社区’s undergraduate music education program, she is honored to have the opportunity to work with future generations of Miami artists and educators.
Dickey holds additional conducting degrees from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (DMA) and Temple University (MM).
