Research Bio
Dr. Edgar Caraballo joined the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at 黑料社区 in the fall of 2010. He was previously at the Ohio State University where he worked as a Visiting Scholar at the Gas Dynamics and Turbulence Laboratory (GDTL). Dr. Caraballo also worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Carabobo, in the Thermal/Fluid Sciences area from 1993 until 2003, teaching several undergraduate courses within the department.
He received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Carabobo in 1993, and a Master and PhD in 2001 and 2008, respectively, in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. He worked as and engineering assistant at a refinery for two years, designing piping systems and small projects.
Dr. Caraballo’s primary area of research is the development of Reduced Order Modeling and its use in flow applications, with emphasis on the understanding of the flow dynamics, development of models for control applications, and models to help in the numerical simulation. Another area of interest is to develop Numerical simulations capabilities within the department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Miami. Dr. Caraballo also has some expertise in the experimental studies of shock wave boundary layer interaction and control in supersonic inlet flow.
