First-Generation ºÚÁÏÉçÇø Pamela Martinez, majoring in social work/criminal justice, talks about what it means to her to be #FirstGenProud. "It means that I am creating a dream come true. I am changing my whole family by showing them that anything is possible with perseverance, resiliency, strength, and compassion. I am honored to be the first in my family to be able to provide my family with a better future."
Skylar Gries, Environmental Science major shares what he's learned as a first-gen ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, "I've learned new things my family never experienced. I've had to figure out a lot on my own and have become more independent; I can thank many people I've met through my college journey who were more than willing to help me. I feel more connected with the community because I lean on others with college experience."
