In “ ” Global Field Program graduate Lilija Rapa helps us get to know African monkeys with a in-depth look at the spot-nosed guenon and suggests ways we can help protect African primates.
Rapa is earning a Master of Arts in the biological sciences from through Project Dragonfly’s Global Field Program while working full-time as a projects officer for (PASA), a network of wildlife sanctuaries working across Africa to protect great apes, monkeys, and their forest homes. Rapa first got involved with PASA as a volunteer in 2020 and joined as a staff member in 2021.
Rapa’s international fieldwork with Project Dragonfly includes studying island biogeography and whale sharks in Baja, Mexico and investigating coral reefs, manatees, howler monkeys, jaguars, and other wildlife in Belize while learning the methods communities are using to sustain them. Rapa connects many of her master’s assignments into her work as a science educator.
