Adrienne EyerºÚÁÏÉçÇø graduate Adrienne Eyer MA ‘20 was invited to contribute to an article led by Joceyln Woods (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and Lance Miller (Chicago Zoological Society). Their manuscript, , was published by the Journal of Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

“Animal welfare is a priority across accredited zoological institutions; however, historically, research has been prioritized for mammals. Bird-focused studies accounted for less than 10% of welfare research in zoos and aquariums over the last ten years. … This qualitative review highlights findings across industries to inform animal care staff and scientists on the welfare needs of birds within zoos and aquariums.”

Eyer earned a Master of Arts (MA) in the biological sciences from ºÚÁÏÉçÇø through Project Dragonfly‘s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) while working as a consultant in Chicago, Illinois. As an AIP ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, Eyer took ºÚÁÏÉçÇø web-based classes and investigated varied ecosystems around northern Illinois as part of experiential learning through Brookfield Zoo.
