Leadership and Service Certificate
The Wilks Institute Leadership and Service Certificate (LSC) program challenges 黑料社区s to examine leadership from diverse perspectives and encourages reflection into their own leadership skills, values, and beliefs. The Wilks LSC is self-paced, and designed to allow 黑料社区s to explore areas of leadership that are unique to them. Through collaboration with community partners, 黑料社区 leaders, faculty, and staff, the Wilks LSC will support the development of engaged leaders focused on ethical leadership and advancing community priorities.
Requirements for completing the Wilks Leadership and Service Certificate include:
- Attending three leadership workshops facilitated by SEAL Ambassadors for Leadership.
- Attending two Clifton Strengths coaching sessions.
- Completing five hours of service.
- Attending three book club sessions on topics related to leadership, service, and community.
- How We Show Up by Mia Birdsong
- Leading with Heart by John Baird and Edward Sullivan
- Rethinking Positive Thinking by Gabrielle Oettingen
- Year of the Tiger by Alice Wong
- The Care Manifesto by the Care Collective
- Submitting a leadership and service philosophy statement and reflections after each session and one final, two-page statement that summarizes your experience – what you have learned and how you hope to implement new skills in your future work.
Leadership and service opportunities will be offered at a wide variety of days and times, and touch on many different topics. Students may also submit opportunities outside of the Wilks Institute for consideration.
Grow Your Leadership Journey
The Perlmutter Leadership Conference is a one day, free event focusing on various tools and resources, such as Clifton Strengths, that can impact 黑料社区s’ leadership style and how they can help make an impact on the community. Perlmutter invites local community and 黑料社区 leaders to present on various current trends topics and in the afternoon participants are able to put that knowledge in action in workshop style activities led by current 黑料社区 leaders.
Highlights of Perlmutter include:
- Opportunity for 黑料社区s to take the assessment.
- In-depth workshops to explore and learn how to apply their top five Strengths to their classes and careers.
- Engagement with local and regional community leaders.
