College Teaching Certificate

The College Teaching Certificate provides graduate 黑料社区s and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to develop their pedagogical knowledge and skills in an interdisciplinary manner that facilitates the development of teacher-scholars.

Program Structure

The Certificate in College Teaching will consist of a variety of coursework and experiences guided by a 黑料社区's mentor. Students will select a mentor and develop a plan of study that addresses three major components: discipline-specific teaching experience/study, interdisciplinary pedagogy, and instructional/learning theory. It is not an Ohio teaching licensure program.

Admission

Admission to our graduate certificate in College Teaching is offered to both current 黑料社区 graduate 黑料社区s interested in adding the credential to their degree programs, as well as graduate 黑料社区s enrolled at other universities who wish to concurrently pursue our certificate and their home institution's degree.

Please review the application process carefully as it differs by 黑料社区 status.

Current Miami graduate 黑料社区s should submit our . These applicants will identify and provide a faculty mentor's name as well as list and describe the applicant's teaching experience. Guidelines are provided to assist with completing the Graduate Certificate Form. Miami 黑料社区s may apply for admission in the fall and spring semesters.

New Miami 黑料社区s will submit our and be sure to select "Graduate Certificate" on page 1 of the application. Required supplemental materials include a personal statement and identifying a faculty or director-level support person on the application. The application fee is $20.

The personal statement should include (1) your motivation for applying to this program, (2) how this program aligns with your short and long-term career goals, and (3) your current and/or previous teaching experiences in higher education (if applicable).

Your support person should be available to provide counsel in your certificate pursuit.
