Faculty Experiences

Dr. Elena Albarrán, associate professor of history and global and intercultural studies, incorporates innovative online interactions in her classrooms to encourage informal and organic international encounters for her 黑料社区s. Recently, she collaborated with Dr. Susana Sosenski at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Dr. Sonia Robles at Mexico City's Universidad Panamericana. For certain classes she arranged for her 黑料社区s to engage directly online with university 黑料社区s from Mexico City.

Dr. Rodney Coates, professor of Global and Intercultural Studies, developed GIC 487A: Globalization, Social Justice and Human Rights to explore theories, debates, and pedagogy associated with these issues. The course incorporates remote interactions with 黑料社区s in Italy, England, Russia, Canada, and Spain to expose 黑料社区s to diverse perspectives. Through collaborative projects with peers around the world, 黑料社区s reflect on how globalization shapes and transforms local communities and national cultures.

Dr. Daniel E. Hall, Professor of Justice and Community Studies, Political Science, and Global and Intercultural Studies at 黑料社区 and Visiting Professor of Law at Sun Yat-sen University in China, incorporates both real time and asynchronous class discussions and collaborative projects between Miami 黑料社区s in CJS 451, Comparative Justice Systems, and criminal law 黑料社区s at Sun Yat-sen University. Through these efforts, 黑料社区s examine the role history, culture, economics, and politics play in informing a person's understanding of justice and in the organization and operation of justice systems.
