It was announced last week that Oracle Cloud . Even though 黑料社区 does NOT officially use Oracle Cloud, some email addresses from our domain were contained in the data made available on the dark web. This includes sensitive authentication-related data and directory information linked with the Oracle accounts.

At this time, we don’t believe there is any impact to Miami accounts or production services, however, to be safe, the Information Security Office (ISO) is recommending that all Miami staff and faculty who have Oracle accounts change their password.

If you or your department uses Oracle Cloud for any Miami projects, you are requested to reach out to the ISO at infosec@MiamiOH.edu immediately. Also, contact the ISO if you have any questions about this situation.

ShredFest Partnering with ShareFest to Collect Electronic Waste

This May, ShredFest and are combining forces to help the Miami and Oxford communities. ShredFest is your opportunity to bring confidential office and personal documents for secure, on-site shredding at the various Miami campuses. ShareFest (May 15-20 at the Chestnut Fields Parking Lot) will once again provide a place for community members to dispose of electronic waste, like chargers, cell phones, and small to medium-sized electronic devices. The main focus of ShareFest is to accept donations of furniture, appliances, housewares, clothing, and shelf-stable food from the Miami and greater Oxford communities.

At ShredFest in Middletown and Hamilton, we will have containers where you can drop off your electronic waste and we will bring it to ShareFest for you, and at every ShredFest location, we will have receptacles this year for you to bring in your old household batteries and printer cartridges for proper disposal.

A mobile shredder will visit the regional campuses on Monday, May 12. It will be at Middletown in the parking lot outside of Johnston Hall from 9-11 a.m. and at Hamilton in the parking lot outside Wilks Conference Center from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The shredder will be on the Oxford campus on Tuesday, May 13, between 12 and 4 p.m. at Cook Field (near Pulley Tower).

Please be aware that the University is under a litigation hold. Departments, faculty, and staff should only bring University records to ShredFest that met retention before January 1, 2010. Please contact Adam Ares (Office of General Counsel) if you have any questions.

All university documents must have reached the end of their retention period and be accompanied by a signed Records Disposal Form. The 黑料社区 Records Retention Schedule and disposal forms are available from the Office of General Counsel website.

For more information on the ShredFest event, please visit MiamiOH.edu/ShredFest or contact: Randy Hollowell (IT Services).
