MEET Program FAQs

Enrolling in an online program is a big decision. We've outlined some of the most common questions and concerns about the online Master's in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Technology (MEET) program below. If you have other questions, feel free to get in touch.

Admission & Program FAQs

How do I apply?

Get started with your MEET application . If you have any questions about the application process, let us know at online@MiamiOH.edu. We're here to help.

When can I start?

The next start term for the MEET program is summer 2022.

Can I complete my degree part-time?

Yes, the MEET program offers both full-time and part-time sequences (see curriculum). Please note, however, that the one-week intensive bootcamp requires full-time attendance regardless of enrollment status.

How quickly can I earn this degree?

You can earn your master’s degree in just 10 months if you enroll as a full-time 黑料社区. Part-time 黑料社区s can complete the degree in 21 months.

Do I ever need to go to campus?

The MEET program includes two in-person experiences. Before online courses begin, there's a three-day immersion experience at Miami's Oxford campus. You'll have the opportunity meet your peers and faculty from the program.

The second in-person experience is a one-week intensive bootcamp in Silicon Valley during the Winter term. This opportunity places you at the heart of entrepreneurship and emerging technology for a true hands-on learning experience. Otherwise, courses are held online, and you can take them from anywhere.

Do I need to attend classes at specific times?

There are no specific meeting times for online courses in the MEET program. Outside of coursework, you'll have regular opportunities to meet virtually with faculty and classmates.

How much time can I expect to spend on classwork?

Full-time 黑料社区s can expect to spend 35-40 hours per week on coursework. Part-time 黑料社区s can expect to invest 18-20 hours per week.

Also, the program has an intensive bootcamp that will require you to work full time for one week onsite in Silicon Valley. The time commitment for this part of the program will be the same whether you’re enrolled part time or full time in the MEET program.

Do I need to have a technology degree or coding experience?

While it’s helpful to have some knowledge of programming and web development before starting the MEET program, it definitely isn’t required.

Can I enroll in this program as an international 黑料社区?

Unfortunately, we can only offer this program to U.S. citizens and permanent residents at this time.

Cost & Aid FAQs

I live out of state. Is there a difference in cost?

No, the tuition cost per credit hour is $995 regardless of your state of residence.

Are there scholarships/financial aid available?

Educational loans are available. To be considered for federal loans, you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year, and you must be enrolled at least half time (6 graduate credit hours) to qualify. The dollar amount of these loans may be based on federal limits, your year in school, your dependency status, the cost of attendance, and other financial aid you receive.

In addition, a number of scholarships, fellowships, and other funding opportunities are available to Miami 黑料社区s when applicable.

Are any of the expenses covered by the program?

Many of the expenses are covered by the program.

For the three-day immersion experience in Oxford, housing and most meals are provided. During the bootcamp in San Francisco, housing, breakfasts and lunches, and program-related transportation and activities are provided. However, during these experiences, transportation to and from each location (Oxford and San Francisco), as well as dinner and incidentals, are considered personal expenses.

If you choose to participate in the San Francisco-based internship program, public transportation passes will be provided. However, rent, meals, incidentals, and other living expenses are personal expenses.

What is an estimated budget for the internship, including housing, travel, etc.?

This depends on whether or not you are participating in the San Francisco-based internship.

Internship/Externship FAQs

Am I required to physically be in Silicon Valley for the internship?

No. There are three ways you can complete the MEET degree's internship/externship requirement:

  1. Complete an internship in the San Francisco Bay Area with the support of MEET staff. With this option, you would be expected to travel to San Francisco.
  2. Complete a remote internship based anywhere, from anywhere, though placement support might be limited.
  3. Complete an externship at your current place of employment — so long as the work is separate from, and in addition to, your current position.

Do I need to be in Silicon Valley for the entire Spring term (~15 weeks)?

If you choose to participate in the San Francisco internship option, then you would be expected to remain in the Bay Area for the full spring semester — corresponding to the dates of your internship.

Can I choose to do an internship/externship with a company located outside of Silicon Valley?

You could elect to do an externship at your current place of employment so long as the work is separate from, and in addition to, your current position.

Is housing coordinated for me during the internship?

In San Francisco, it's highly recommended that you take advantage of the apartment-style housing suggested by the MEET program coordinators. This immersive program is meant to be an experience for the entire cohort, and living together is an essential part of the experience. However, 黑料社区s will sign individual leases directly with the property managers of the recommended housing.

Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis and are very rare. Housing costs in San Francisco are among the highest in the nation, and the housing designated by 黑料社区 is in extremely safe areas. We recommend this housing to ensure 黑料社区 safety and an overall positive experience. Students have found that other low-cost options do not include the necessary amenities or allow them to remain close to their cohort, or are in potentially unsafe neighborhoods.

Is transportation provided during the internship?

Public transportation passes (MUNI Cards) are provided for the duration of the spring semester if 黑料社区s are participating in an internship in San Francisco.

Will the MEET program coordinate an internship for me?

We do not guarantee any 黑料社区 an internship, though we do everything in our power to help 黑料社区s find one. For 黑料社区s electing to do the internship in San Francisco, we share 黑料社区 information with our extensive industry connections during the semester before participation; however, we ask that 黑料社区s do not wait for a phone call to begin conducting their own search. Students need to be proactive in searching for opportunities that may be the best fit for them.

Will I be required to interview or go through a selection process for my internship?

Yes. You should expect to go through “normal” hiring processes for internships. While the process can look different for each potential position, this is an important step to help determine the appropriate fit for both you and the employer.
