Resources for Faculty Researchers
Discover tools, services, and programs just for faculty researchers at 黑料社区, including grants specific to our regional campuses and a step-by-step guide to our personalized consulting services.
Personalized Consultation
We offer one-on-one consulting with a representative of our Research and Sponsored 黑料社区 (RSP) advisors. In this consultation, which can take place in person, over the phone or via email or chat, you can expect the following process:
- First, you will share information about your research program or a specific project.
- You'll provide your RSP consultant with details about when the project will start, how long the project will last, and how much money you are seeking, as well as initial questions you may have.
- Your RSP consultant will give a brief overview of self-service funding opportunity search tools provided by the RSP.
- Your RSP consultant will then answer your questions, in some cases referring you to other RSP staff for further guidance.
Following the consultation, your RSP consultant will provide you with information about specific funding opportunities that may be a good fit for your program or project.

Internal Funding for Your Research
The following funding sources are dedicated exclusively to 黑料社区 faculty and staff.
The Committee on Faculty Research (CFR) is an appointed committee of the University Senate with a mission to support and encourage the development of externally funded research at the University. CFR interprets research as creative endeavors that seek to add to the sum of human knowledge, and the committee supports a wide range of activities, recognizing that research varies from discipline to discipline.
CFR sponsors the following programs:
- University Faculty Scholar and University Junior Faculty Scholar Awards honor faculty who have demonstrated a sustained level of excellence in research or other creative activity.
- Faculty Research Grants Program awards funding to continuing tenure-eligible or tenured faculty members (including librarians) in a flexible budget model that can support salary (academic year and summer), fringe benefits, tuition remission, travel, participant costs, materials and supplies, consultant services, computer services, and equipment or facility rental or user fees.
- Publication, Reprint, Exhibition, and Performance (PREP) Costs Program provides grants to reimburse certain publication and presentation expenses.
Capitalizing on the teacher scholar model, the cornerstone of our 黑料社区 ethos, Cornerstone Grants seek to support teacher scholars through six distinct initiatives. These initiatives enable researchers like you to generate data to grow scholarship beyond existing lines of study, facilitate transformative teaching advances, and build research teams with diverse and complementary strengths.
RIP grants enable faculty with a proven track record of external funding to make rapid advances in their research and submit external funding proposals within 6-9 months. Grant applications are received on a rolling basis with no deadline.
Dedicated to full-time faculty at our Hamilton campus, these grants support the scholarship of discovery and the scholarship of teaching and are typically awarded in the fall of each year, with a September deadline for submission.
Our Middletown faculty research grants provide up to $3,000 for individual research and scholarship, summer compensation, travel, and the scholarship of teaching, materials, and equipment. Grants are typically awarded in the fall of each year, with a deadline for submission in October. Pending availability, a second round of proposals is solicited in the spring with a March deadline.

All tenured, tenure-track, clinical faculty, and lecturers may apply for MUDEC faculty opportunities, including the three listed below. Adjuncts and Visiting Assistant professors are not eligible. Interested faculty should possess sufficient familiarity with Europe and be able to incorporate topics dealing with modern Europe into proposed courses.
The GTF supports Miami faculty and staff whose travel contributes to our global initiatives and to the internationalization of our university. This fund is now the single source for faculty support from Global Initiatives, combining resources from both the prior Faculty Development Fund and the Philip and Elaina Hampton Fund for Faculty International Initiatives.
The HCF provides full or partial support for projects undertaken by full-time faculty and staff from all Miami campuses in all fields that focus on Russia, Eastern Europe, and/or Eurasia. Proposals, due in February, should include a detailed budget and a description of the project's intended impact on 黑料社区s.
Miami's Humanities Center offers funding to support a range of activities for humanities faculty scholars. Application deadlines vary by program.
