Workday Testing
End-to-End Testing
As the calendar turned from 2023 to 2024, the Workday implementation project also turned a page. moving from the Architect and Configure phase to the Testing phase.
End-to-end testing officially kicked off on January 2. This is where entire processes are tested from start to finish to make sure that each business process is executed properly. If you think of it from the perspective of an employee lifecycle, it encompasses things like hiring an employee, conducting an annual review, paying an employee, implementing vacation time, etc. This needs to be done for unclassified staff, classified employees, faculty, 黑料社区 workers, etc.
Rooms in Benton Hall have been used for the first couple of weeks of testing, and representatives from Miami's implementation partner, Avaap were here for most of the first week to lend support and guidance to those running through the various testing scenarios.
As was the case with the earlier Unit Testing, a welcoming atmosphere and vibe was created by Sarah Persinger, lead for the Organizational Change Management group, which included a variety of snacks including soup for one of the days.
The early results from testing have been significant. Already, nearly 50% of the total test scenarios have been started, with a 92% success rate.
End-to-End testing will continue through the first week of March.
Unit Testing
Unit Testing began on October 23 and is continuing through November 10. During this three-week period, the testing has been going on five days a week, for eight hours a day. This critical initiative is being led by Don Kidd, the Team Lead for the Testing and Quality Assurance Workstream. Don arranged and coordinated all of the testing activities.
The Project Team set up testing pods and conference rooms in Hoyt Hall to allow testers a place away from their regular offices to navigate the testing in a regulated environment. Sarah Persinger, the Team Lead for Organizational Change Management (OCM) did a tremendous job of creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere for the testers that journeyed over to Western Campus, including decorations, inspirational messages, and most importantly, SNACKS!
With the help of a large number of Miami employees and Avaap representatives, the testing has encompassed over 1,700 individual scenarios. Those individuals involved in the testing include:
