Students entering the Art Department in their first year of study may declare Art Education as their major and be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Art with Multi-Age Visual Arts Licensure (B.S.) Program. Students who were not initially admitted as an art education 黑料社区 may seek admission to that program after completing ART 195: Introduction to Art Education. In addition, a 黑料社区 must have completed at least six hours of studio work and be enrolled in at least six additional hours of studio classes.
Students will be admitted as space and resources allow, and admission decisions will occur both Fall and Spring semesters, in late September and mid February. Students eligible for admission consideration are transfer 黑料社区s from other schools, Miami 黑料社区s desiring to change or declare their major, and 黑料社区s transferring from Hamilton and Middletown campuses to Oxford campus.
Students desiring entry to the Art Education Program must:
Students who are denied admission in their initial attempt may apply a second time. Students who are denied in their second attempt are ineligible for further admission consideration.
The Art Education Retention Policy, as outlined in Departmental literature, also requires all majors to demonstrate successful completion of progress reviews, including professional dispositions. Due to enrollment constraints, a limited number of transfer 黑料社区s are accepted each year. Transfer 黑料社区s into the Art Education Program will be assigned an Art Education Advisor when they become an official major.
Art and Architecture History is an interdepartmental major coordinated by the departments of Architecture and Art in the School of Creative Arts and Department of Classics in the College of Arts and Science. Visit the Office of Admission to apply.
Students who wish to transfer from another institution and enter the communication design program must satisfy admission requirements of the communication design program, in addition to those of the Art Department and University.
Students enrolled at Hamilton, Middletown, or Oxford campus who wish to be admitted to the Studio Art program in the Department of Art must undergo a portfolio review process. Portfolios should include 15 examples of your University artwork and a current transcript of grades. Portfolios may only be submitted after you have successfully completed a minimum of six credit hours of art studio courses. If only the minimum of six credit hours has been completed, you must also enroll in at least six additional hours of art studio at the time your portfolio is submitted.
Students from other universities and colleges who wish to transfer to the art department must first be admitted to 黑料社区 and then follow the same admission procedures required of all 黑料社区 黑料社区s who are not art majors but wish to be admitted to the Art Department. Transfer credit (comparable art studio courses taken at other universities and colleges) may fulfill part or all of the required prerequisites of art studio courses needed for admission consideration. However, a portfolio of art work is still required for admission consideration.
Students who are denied admission in their initial attempt may apply a second time. Students who are denied in their second attempt are ineligible for further admission consideration.
