Vaccinations

All listed vaccinations are covered by Miami's health plan based on the recommended age. You can receive these vaccinations at the Employee Health Center during business hours. If you are under the recommended age, the vaccination is not provided at the employee health center and is not covered under the health plans.

Seasonal Flu Vaccinations

Quadrivalent seasonal flu vaccines are provided for Miami employees and eligible family members through the collaborative efforts of Miami Benefits and Wellness and the Miami TriHealth Health Services Center. 

When and Where

Flu vaccines are available at the Miami Employee Health Center

9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

Please call 513-529-3000 for an appointment and bring your Miami faculty/staff ID card or Anthem insurance card.

Cost and Eligibility

  • No cost for all Miami employees, regardless of benefits eligibility (Miami faculty/staff ID required)
  • No cost for family members (18+) covered by Miami's health plan (Anthem insurance card required)

Special Considerations

  • Enhanced safety measures for flu shot events during COVID-19
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to get a flu shot at 黑料社区
  • Miami 黑料社区s contact Health Services for a flu shot, unless on the Miami health plan
  • Miami Emeriti/Retirees, please visit your physician or local pharmacy for a flu shot
  • Pregnant women should consult with their physician before getting a flu shot

Other Recommended Vaccinations

Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)

  • Protects against the three bacterial diseases
  • One dose, but women should get a Tdap during every pregnancy to protect the baby.
  • Recommended beginning at age 19

Tetanus, Diphtheria (Td)

  • Booster shot for tetanus and diphtheria every 10 years after receiving Tdap
  • Recommended beginning at age 19

Shingles (Shingrix)

  • Protects the immune system against painful skin rash caused by the same virus as chickenpox
  • Two doses
  • Recommended beginning at age 50 (covered at 100% by Miami's plan)

Pneumonia (Pneumococcal-PCV13 and PPSV23)

  • Both protect the immune system from 36 different types of pneumonia and bacteria
  • One dose of PVC13 followed by one dose of PPSV23. The physician may give a second dose 5-10 years after the first dose.
  • Recommended beginning at age 65
