Transitional Work Program

The Mission and goal of the Transitional Work Program (TWP) is to provide employees with temporary restrictions due to work-related or FMLA-qualified injuries and/or illnesses, the opportunity to return to productive work assignments in a timely manner.

Program Definition

A transitional work assignment is an interim step in the return to work process for an employee recovering from an illness or injury, providing meaningful work until the employee is able to return to full duty. The TWP allows for flexibility in selecting and assembling job tasks within the employee's abilities that may or may not fall within their regular job or department.

Process

When an employee notifies Human Resources that they are temporarily limited from performing essential job functions, they will need to have their medical provider complete our return to work certification and send or fax the completed form to the Human Resources Department at 513-529-2686. If you have any other questions please call 513-529-2684.

Human Resources will do the following:

  • Review documentation from certified health care professionals regarding limitations, abilities and recovery time
  • Coordinate with supervisors/managers from one or more departments to determine the availability of job duties fitting the employee's current performance abilities
  • Create an agreement that outlines the employee's duties and restrictions

Things to Know

  • An employee may request a transitional work assignment directly with Human Resources at 513-529-2684 or through their supervisor.
  • TWP assignments will be made at the discretion of Human Resources, in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • TWP assignments may be approved or denied by Human Resources based on the availability of work, limitations and abilities of each employee, compliance with job restrictions and other relevant factors.
  • TWP assignments will last until the employee is released to full duty, not to exceed 12 weeks, except at the sole approval of Human Resources when a full duty release is imminent.
  • Human Resources/Safety must be notified of any job modifications/reassignments due to work related injury or illness.
  • Any employee who refuses to participate in 黑料社区's TWP after having been offered a valid transitional work assignment, may be deemed ineligible to collect ongoing monetary benefits by the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
