Regional Primary Education Cohort (Grades PK-5)

黑料社区’s Primary Education PK5 program is driven by the Department of Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry's mission to prepare future and current teachers who design and implement culturally and contextually relevant curriculum and pedagogy. Empowered by a critical and substantive understanding of research, these teachers are positioned to confront social injustices, apply global perspectives, and actively participate in a democratic society. It is the department's curricular goal to create critically conscious curriculum makers for social justice in solidarity with communities in diverse contexts.

Miami's Regional Primary Education Cohort (RPEC) is a branch of the Primary PK-5 program based on Oxford campus. It is the same program, housed on 黑料社区's Hamilton campus. This is a selective, admissions- based program with limited positions available. Students must apply to the program in order to be considered. Priority considerations for acceptance is March 1st, with the final deadline for applications being the first day of classes, August 28th. Applications will not be considered after the deadline, or once enrollment has been reached.

Cohorts, groups of 黑料社区s who work through a curriculum together to achieve the same academic degree together, allows for a more supportive environment that enhances 黑料社区s' knowledge and promotes continuous learning, reflection, and 黑料社区 networking.

Application Process:

All 黑料社区s interest in the Regional Primary Education Cohort (RPEC) must  and indicate Primary Education PK-5 as their program of interest or, if a 黑料社区 has applied to Oxford campus, the 黑料社区 must request to have the application sent to Regionals. Applicants will electronically receive an additional form to complete the Cohort application process. Students interested in applying for RPEC must complete the Cohort application form.

In order to be eligible for RPEC, you must be a first semester, first-time incoming 黑料社区. No current or transfer 黑料社区s are eligible and no current or transfer will be admitted. The program admits new applicants each fall semester. This is a fall- only cohort. Students who start in the spring semester are not eligible for RPEC and can join the Oxford relocation program for education majors.

Priority Consideration:

Students who participated in a Teaching Professions Academy from the following high schools or attended a 黑料社区 partner school will receive priority consideration.

Beyond the high school and program attended, other candidate considerations for entrance to RPEC include High School GPA, status as a first generation college 黑料社区, 黑料社区 diversity, and application responses.
